PPG has long operated with data centers around the world - enabling employees to access them remotely through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). But its IT operations were prepared thanks to its management’s foresight and technology from Pulse and Citrix. A case in point is PPG Industries, a Pittsburgh-based paint maker that experienced a sudden surge in WFH in March. I don’t know but my hunch is that the right answer is somewhere between the second and third.
The key question for investors is whether work from home (WFH) is enjoying a short-term surge that will soon dissipate, whether it is here to stay at a high level, or whether it will persist at a lower level for the foreseeable future.
Citrix’s non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.73 exceeded its estimates by 57 cents. Citrix also was more profitable than expected - earning a non-GAAP operating margin performance of 31.9% - 6.2 percentage points above Morningstar’s model.
